A Writer's Prayer Book

In May, 2018, I was confused and anxious about my own existence, but I didn’t know how to get the help I needed. After a breakdown on a missions trip to Greece, I was sent home early and began counseling. Pretty quickly, I wanted to work on something to get my mind off of what had happened. I wanted to write, but I didn’t know what to write. After asking a few friends to pray for me, I waited, hoping I would get a clear answer.

One week exactly after the breakdown, I got an idea to write A Prayer Book for Writers. The idea came with excitement and readiness. I began working on it immediately and in about a month, with a lot of praying over it included, a draft had been nearly completed.

My vision for the book is to help other writers who are Christians to draw near to God in every aspect of their lives, and to experience His love more deeply than ever before.

The book has gotten feedback from several other writers, it has a professional book cover, it has been through 4 rounds of edits, 2 with my editor, Ginger Gregory, one on my own, and one round of edits with my sister, Lisa Kleefeld.

A New Journey

Dear God,

I want to create something beautiful. I want to experience it and then share it with people in ways they will be able to understand, ponder, imagine, and feel. Take me on a journey to know You better in this process. Give me the patience I need to write a work and the patience to take care of myself in the process.

Awaken in me a sense of curiosity. Teach me how to ask questions–questions to myself about the books I’m writing, but also about ideas and the art of writing itself. Bring to my attention what I should focus on during this creative journey; inspire within me the questions that will lead me closer to You, for You are the source and embodiment of Love, Truth, Beauty, and Wonder.

Let Your will be done in me as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name,

Genesis 1
